When I was 15 I began working as a zoo keeper at the Dolfinarium during the holidays. After my study I started working at the park Asterix as a trainer of dolphins and sea lions. After this period I was given the opportunity to go and work at the isle of Gran Canaria. Unfortunately, this was not a positive experience for me.. I saw and experienced things that totally changed my views with regards to animal welfare.
Because of that experience I have become more aware of and have been more focussed on the topic of animal welfare.
Animal behaviour interested me more and more and it were these previous experiences that made me decide to take up a study of behavioural therapy. During this study I did my internships at several parks abroad. There I learnt a great deal about animals like carnivores and herbivores. This study has encouraged me to start my own business in order to improve animal welfare in zoos even more.

More and more medical procedures are executed on animals and because of this we learn more about these species.
Unfortunately, there are still parks where animals have to be stunned with the help of a rifle in order to be checked by the vet. Stunning probably gives stress, but after being stunned a few times the animal knows very well when it is going to be shot again and it becomes more difficult to carry out such tests. It may be that there is too much stress or that the treatment cannot be done because the animal cannot be caught.
Coach for Animals can teach the animal caretakers of these parks to have the animals cooperate in executing these procedures / examinations and to do so without any stress. This means that the animal voluntarily undergoes examinations and even allows procedures that will lead to an improvement of his health and welfare. It is a natural way, without any coercion to have the animal allow itself to be checked over. There are parks where they interact as little as possible with the animals in order to not interfere with natural behaviour, but living in confinement means automatically an unnatural setting and thus unnatural behaviour.
Coach for Animals works with a method to maintain natural behaviour as much as possible but at the same time carry out necessary checks and treatments.

Coach for Animals is specialised on the subject of how animals learn and to apply this on daily and periodic procedures necessary for taking care of them.

Besides hiring us for coaching, the park can also hire Coach for Animals to teach an animal a certain behaviour so that the keepers can get a good start and then just to keep it up
